暗网禁区’s Preparatory Course for Secondary School (PCS) is a unique program designed to methodically introduce 暗网禁区’s student life and curriculum to highly motivated English language learners.

With the dual mission of academic language development and well-being, the program equips students with a level of English proficiency necessary to not only succeed but thrive in 暗网禁区’s rigorous academic environment.

Through an intensive 20-week program, students will learn how to fully engage with an IB-style curriculum in Math, Science, Literature, and Humanities, while improving their fundamental English skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Our highly skilled faculty are at the forefront of English language acquisition pedagogy and classroom technique. No other program in Singapore offers the same range of content-rich courses that meet the scholarly and linguistic needs of students eager to thrive at the next level.

English Ability Assessment

This course uses the SLATE Plus English proficiency test to track each student’s language acquisition improvement along their journey in PCS. SLATE Plus is administered three times during the semester. The end-of-semester SLATE Plus assessment is a major factor in determining if the student has met the standard of the course for graduation.

Throughout the 20-week program, students receive daily individualized feedback in the form of classroom projects, homework, quizzes, and tests in order to accurately monitor their progress. The course also utilizes a variety of online tools designed to effectively track improvements in key skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar.

Entry Criteria

The PCS entry criteria are as follows:

1. Students are required to achieve the following SLATE scores:

6th Graders must score between 1.5 to 2.9 on the SLATE English proficiency test
7th Graders must score between 1.5 to 2.9 on the SLATE English proficiency test
8th Graders must score between 1.5 to 3.4 on the SLATE English proficiency test
9th Graders must score between 2.5 to 3.9 on the SLATE English proficiency test
10th Graders must score between 3.5 to 4.4 on the SLATE English proficiency test

2. Interview by the school o?ce is required for PCS applications and is the determining factor for accepting students into PCS.

Exit Criteria

The exit criteria for successfully completing the course are as follows:

6th grade students must attain a 3 on the SLATE
7th grade students must attain a 3 on the SLATE
8th grade students must attain a 3.5 on the SLATE
9th grade students must attain a 4 on the SLATE
10th grade students must attain a 4.5 on the SLATE

All students must demonstrate strong classroom performance on graded material, and receive teacher recommendations.

All charges are expressed in Singapore Dollars (SGD), including GST of 9%.
