From Rehearsal to the Reagan Theater Stage

Performing Arts CCAs at Stamford are built around the discipline of live performance. Six major productions a year. A professional-standard theater. One-on-one tuition in the Music Academy. From a Bollywood dance routine in Elementary School to an auditioned ensemble in High School, every stage of the journey asks students to commit, to be vulnerable, and to deliver in front of a real audience.

What separates these programs is the infrastructure. The Reagan Theater is a professional performance space with dedicated stage crew, not a school hall with a curtain. Students prepare, rehearse, and perform to hundreds. That experience is difficult to replicate anywhere else.

What Your Child Will Develop

Performing Arts CCAs build a unique combination of personal and interpersonal skills:

  • Confidence and self-expression (Early Years and Elementary) – the courage to be seen, to use their voice, and to express ideas through movement and sound
  • Ensemble discipline (Middle School) – the responsibility of showing up for every rehearsal because the team relies on every member. Learning that individual preparation serves the group
  • Stage presence and performance technique (Middle and High School) – projection, timing, spatial awareness, audience connection, and the ability to perform under pressure
  • Creative collaboration (All Levels) – working with directors, choreographers, and fellow performers to create something larger than any individual contribution
  • Resilience and growth mindset (High School) – navigating auditions, handling feedback, developing craft over years of sustained practice

Performing Arts CCAs by Grade Level

Performing Arts CCAs provide a clear developmental arc from first experiences to advanced performance:

  • Early Years (Pre-K to K2): Dance Squad, ELV Suzuki Violin, Mini Maestro, and Teddy Tutus. Joyful introduction to rhythm, movement, and musical expression in a supportive group setting.
  • Elementary School (Grades 1-5): Bollywood Dance, Circus Tricks by Big Top Circus, DanceSports by Utelante, Magic by Magic Castle, Musical Theater by Evolve Arts, and Karaoke. Students build comfort with performing in front of others and discover which performing art resonates with them.
  • Middle School (Grades 6-8): Acting for the Stage – focused drama training that develops scene work, character development, and stagecraft. Students begin participating in school productions with speaking and ensemble roles.
  • High School (Grades 9-12): Chinese Drama, Resonance of Korea Samulnori, SAIS Delta Eta Pi Dance Honor Society, and Stamford Fusion Band. Auditioned ensembles, student-directed pieces, and leadership of major productions on the Reagan Theater stage.
