STEM CCAs at °µÍø½ûÇø

Innovation Through Competition and Collaboration

STEM CCAs at °µÍø½ûÇø are built around creation and competition. Students program robots, design 3D-printed solutions, and compose digital music using production software, applying these skills under pressure, within teams, and against schools across Singapore and beyond.

The goal is not subject knowledge in isolation. It is the ability to draw from multiple disciplines at once to solve problems that do not fit neatly into one subject area. That is the thinking pattern universities and employers are looking for.

What Your Child Will Develop

STEM CCAs build capabilities that are increasingly essential in the modern world:

  • Problem decomposition (Elementary) – breaking complex challenges into manageable parts, logical sequencing, basic algorithmic thinking
  • Iterative prototyping (Middle School) – building, testing, failing, and rebuilding. Understanding that the first attempt is never the final product
  • Computational thinking and coding fluency (Middle and High School) – programming in multiple languages, understanding systems architecture, debugging under pressure
  • Competition-grade engineering (High School) – designing solutions that must perform within strict constraints, managing team dynamics, presenting to judges
  • Project management and collaboration (All levels) – working within deadlines, dividing responsibilities, communicating technical ideas to non-technical audiences

STEM CCAs by Grade Level

STEM CCAs grow in complexity and independence as your child progresses:

  • Early Years (Pre-K to K2): Board Games, Build and Construct, LEGO Construction, STEM Discovery Club and more. Hands-on exploration that builds spatial awareness and early logical thinking through play.
  • Elementary School (Grades 1-5): AR VR Coding Adventure, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), Coding with Makey Makey, Micro:bit and PictoBlox, eSports, Gen AI and more. Structured skill-building with first robotics team experiences through FIRST LEGO League (FLL).
  • Middle School (Grades 6-8): 2D Animation Station, 3D Printing, Digital Art and Graphic Design, Digital Music Production, Minecraft, Coding Website Development and more. Deeper specialization and first external competition entries through VEX IQ.
  • High School (Grades 9-12): Astronomy Club, Code4All, Robotics Club (VEX V5), Science National Honor Society, STEM Competition Club and more. Students lead teams, mentor younger members, and pursue qualification for national and world championships.

From LEGO Robotics Club to Second Place at VEX IQ Nationals

Kanato – Robotics Club at °µÍø½ûÇø

Kanato joined the robotics club in Grade 5. Three prototypes and countless problem-solving sessions later, he placed second at the VEX IQ Singapore national competition.

“My journey started in grade 5 when there was an opportunity to join the new lego robotics club… Through the process we struggled through many problems about the robots – our team went through about 2-3 completely different prototypes and solved problems such as the overheating of motors or the structural stability that we had to improve so many times… I was able to get second place in the VEX IQ Singapore national competition… My goals for the future is to create and be with a team that is able to commit to the robotics program and hopefully get first place to get an amazing opportunity to enter the world finals for our school.”

Competitions, Showcases & Recognition

STEM CCAs at Stamford are built around external competition as a driver of excellence:

  • FIRST LEGO League (FLL) – team-based robotics and innovation challenges for Elementary and Middle School students
  • VEX IQ Robotics Competition – Middle School division with Singapore national championships and world qualification pathway
  • VEX V5 Robotics Competition – High School division competing at national and international level
  • Coding competitions and hackathons through Code4All and external partnerships
  • Science National Honor Society induction for academic achievement in STEM disciplines
  • STEM Competition Club – preparation and entry for mathematics olympiads, science bowls, and engineering challenges

How to Get Started with STEM CCAs

Ready for your child to build, code, and compete? Browse all STEM CCAs and register through SchoolsBuddy. Our program runs across multiple seasons per school year, and students can switch CCAs each season. Both free and paid options are available. No prior experience is required for entry-level CCAs – our coaches and student mentors support new members from day one.
